1. Overview
Bible Trivia ("Verse Off") is a Bible trivia game developed by Michael Petitpas. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your choices.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Display Name — A name you choose when playing multiplayer modes. This is stored locally on your device and shared only with other players in your game session.
Information generated automatically:
- Local Player ID — A random identifier (UUID) generated on your device to distinguish you in multiplayer sessions. This is not linked to your real identity.
- Game Data — Scores, streaks, and game history are stored locally on your device.
- Multiplayer Session Data — When you join a Live Room, your display name, player ID, and scores are stored temporarily in Apple's CloudKit service to coordinate the game session. This data is associated with your iCloud account but is stored in a public database accessible only through the app.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, or physical address.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not use analytics or tracking frameworks.
- We do not display advertisements.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
4. How We Use Your Information
- Gameplay — Your display name, player ID, and scores are used solely to provide multiplayer functionality (Live Rooms and Nearby Play).
- Local Storage — Your preferences (such as mute setting and difficulty) and game history are stored on your device using standard iOS storage to preserve your progress between sessions.
5. Multiplayer Modes
Live Rooms (CloudKit): When you create or join a Live Room, your display name and scores are stored temporarily in Apple's CloudKit public database. Room data expires and is no longer accessible after 24 hours.
Nearby Play (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi): When you use Nearby Play, your device communicates directly with other nearby devices using Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework over Bluetooth and local Wi-Fi. Your display name and scores are shared only with connected players. No data is sent to any server.
6. Data Retention
- Local data (scores, preferences) remains on your device until you delete the app.
- CloudKit data (Live Room sessions) expires automatically after 24 hours.
- Nearby Play data exists only during the active session and is not persisted.
7. Data Security
All CloudKit communication uses Apple's encrypted infrastructure. Nearby Play connections use Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework. Local data is stored in your device's sandboxed app storage, protected by iOS security.
8. Children's Privacy
Bible Trivia does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation, does not collect identifying information, and the display name is a user-chosen alias stored locally on the device.
9. Third-Party Services
The app uses Apple's CloudKit and MultipeerConnectivity frameworks, which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. No other third-party services are used.
10. Your Choices
- You can choose any display name; you are not required to use your real name.
- You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app.
- You can choose not to use multiplayer features, in which case no data leaves your device.
